(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- It was just over four years ago when an Iraq War veteran disappeared from her home in Park Forest.
The police - and the woman's mother - are asking for help in finding out what happened.

"I miss her,” says Maria Gonzalez, the mother of Brenda Jackson.

Jackson, 31, a mother of six, disappeared four years ago.

"I know she never would've been gone this long without some way of contacting me. We had a very close relationship,” Gonzalez said. "And her children meant the world to her. Her children meant everything to her."

Gonzalez says Jackson had filed for divorce from her husband before she vanished.

SANFORD, Fla. - The Sanford Police Department says that 73-year-old Robert Ford is missing.
According to police, his daughter said that Ford was last seen overnight on Nov. 29, between the hours of 9 p.m. and 8 a.m. He left his residence while his daughter, Catherine Ford, was sleeping.

“It’s unreal. Every hour that goes by, I keep realizing that he’s still gone. I don’t have anyone to take care of right now,” Catherine said.

He was reportedly last seen wearing dark-colored shorts, a dark-colored shirt, and an unknown color jacket. Police say he has a small beard, hazel eyes, weighs about 160 pounds, and is about five-feet, seven-inches tall. His daughter says her father walked out without shoes, phone, or ID.

Conger may be driving a 2015 Toyota Camry with Nevada license plate number 696G03 and is believed to possibly be in Mexico. Smith says there are many families of veterans with PTSD who just need to reach out before it's too late.
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - A billionaire and philanthropist from Detroit, Michigan is offering a $10,000 reward to the person who finds a missing combat veteran from Scottsdale.

Scottsdale Police say Jesse Conger was last seen August 14 at his Scottsdale apartment. He is described as a 37-year-old white man, 6'2", 200 pounds, with brown hair, a full beard, and blue eyes. He has tattoos on his left arm and the word "rise" tattooed on his chest.

Conger is a veteran who is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and depression, according to family. Police said he reportedly made suicidal statements in the days leading up to his disappearance.

Bill Pulte, the Chief Executive Officer of Pulte Capital and Blight Authority, offered to help in the search, vowing to give $10,000 in reward money to whoever helps find Conger.

Air Force #MissingVeteran mixed emotions about Green Alert

Balancing Safety And Privacy When A Veteran Goes Missing

NPR

April 9, 2019

Heard on All Things Considered
A Wisconsin combat veteran was driving down the highway in February when he suddenly found his name, license plate number and mental health information broadcast on the radio, on television and posted on electronic billboards across the state.

"It felt very violating. Because I didn't want everyone who doesn't know me to know I have problems. It made me want to crawl into a bigger hole," he told NPR.

But the "Green Alert" might have saved his life.

"It's still affecting me dramatically and negatively, but at the same time it's quite possible that it's why I'm here right now," says the former Air Force staff sergeant. "It's kind of a double-edged sword."

NPR is not divulging the man's name because he never consented to have his information made public. A new Wisconsin law allows authorities to put that information out the same way an AMBER Alert publicizes missing children or a Silver Alert does for people with cognitive impairment. It's the first Green Alert to take effect — green for the color of military fatigues — though many states are considering the program.
The Wisconsin law is called the Corey Adams Searchlight Act. Adams was an Afghanistan vet from Milwaukee who went missing in 2017. His family feared he was suicidal. But police didn't immediately treat him as a missing person, because unlike children, adults have a right to disappear if they want to.

Adams was found dead weeks later. His family mobilized around the idea of an alert system for veterans and it became law in Wisconsin last year. That attracted a powerful advocate – the retired commander of U.S. special forces in Africa, Brig. Gen. Don Bolduc.
